The Squire Whipple Bowstring Truss Bridge received the 1998 award from ODOT at the OTEC98 Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
This bridge is one of the four remaining bowstring truss bridges designed and patented in 1841 by Squire Whipple. His nephew James W. Shipman helped form the Coshocton Iron Works in 1872 and the bridge was built that same year.
Moved from Coshocton County, Ohio to its current location in 1997, this bridge is on the National Register of Historical Places. Our work included new foundation design, design of broken or missing pieces, and supervision of the move and re-assembly process to insure that the bridge remained on the national register.
